Boys

Cadets Club

Who: Second- through eighth-grade boys

When: Every other Friday from 6:00–8:00 p.m. September through May

Cadets is a Boy’s Club, similar to Boy Scouts, but with an emphasis on Christ. It is the goal of the Cadet Club to provide a safe place for boys to connect with their peers and learn what it means to grow into a God-honoring man and father. The boys learn citizenship, Bible knowledge, and skills for camping, woodworking, and building projects.

Luke 2:52 states that "Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." The goal of the Calvinist Cadet Corps, based upon that verse, is to help boys to grow spiritually in all areas of life (devotional, mental, physical, and social) by providing Christian men with a uniquely designed structure, program, and materials so that they can mentor boys effectively.

A typical meeting includes games, a Bible lesson, crafts and badge work. Some of the scheduled activities include canoeing, camping, a snow trip and a summer Camporee. Cadets have an Annual Pinewood Derby with cars they built. Combined with 8 other clubs, there are almost 200 cars racing together. This is an international organization that holds camporees both locally and throughout the country.
